Help needed! Eight year old, obese, chi X for adoption.

I just rescued a dog.

An obese, 8 year old, intact chi X girlie. She gets along with my chi, and the cats. No barking yet, is house trained.

This girl is TERRIFIED. She doesn't want to leave the kennel we set up for her, she is sad and alone in the world.

Her old owner passed, and she was left in a garage.

Awwwww Congratz on you and Alex's new addition !!!! Poor old girl ..... She prolly has no idea what the heck is going on. I know you and Alex will get her to a good weight and love her like she needs to be until you find her a new home !! Can't wait to see pics . I bet she is a cute little chub !

Not really "our new addition" Alex is less than impressed with me right now, but he loves me.

Hopefully we can find her a place to go soon. Today we took her collar off for the first time, and she suddenly wanted to PLAY and KISS. Weird how just taking a collar off can do that to her. So for now, no collar in the house. Only on walkies (which she looooves, poor fatdog).

Yes, Betty is not pleased at all that Mom is spending more time with FatDog now. She pee'd on the carpet today after I had just taken FatDog for a walk. I think because I can't wrangle both, she is getting jealous. I feel so bad! I guess my evening walks I will try and take her with us from now on. FatDog needs to be carried up the stairs, and Betty refuses to walk up them, so I'd have to find a way to carry both.... not so easy when one is a 16+lb fat dog who squirms. *sigh*

I realize most of those pictures she looks deceptively thinner... believe me, this dog is HUGE. Here's hoping she will transition to raw easier than it seems like right now. We're having to mixed awful canned with her raw chunks for her to eat them, and the chunks have to be small (pea sized, or a little bigger). She also has to have her food watered. What a princess! LOL

Do you mind if I post about her on a dog forum I'm on? Just to see if anyone's interested.

Sure, go ahead. Must be willing to raw feed though and deal with some aggression issues.

Human aggression or dog aggression?

She is food aggro with other pets (a quick snap, and she backs off), she also nips ankles of strangers (as in, if you were to walk thru my house right now, she'd growl and nip your ankle). When she first moved in, she growled at me, never snapped though. I'm pretty sure her old owner taught her no appropriate manners, and then spoiled her. It was "cute" when she nipped ankles and never corrected the behaviour.

Def a no kids dog (altho she gets along with them great when they aren't in her house).
