Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Lianne. And I currently own 2 raw fed mutts and 3 raw fed cats. I haven't been feeding raw for too long I think we just passed the 1 1/2 years mark!
But I'm always looking to learn more!!!

    Welcome, Lianne!
I'm new to this forum too, but not new to raw. 15+ years.

I feed whole prey model raw to my two dogs, an 8 yo Newfy and a 2 yo mini Doxie.

    Hi Giselle,

15 + years! That's awesome. It really is the greatest thing I ever did for my pets, I really can't ever imagine going back to crap in a bag.

I feed primarily prey model - although its more "franken prey" or "modified prey" or whatever other clever name thats popular, since I can rarely get whole prey, 'cept for fishies. Smile
And I'm still working on the cats (and DH) with getting more whole prey for them. He's a lot more squeamish than I, so he hasn't worked up to whole mice (or anything still resembling its former self) yet. Wink

    Yes, it is wonderful.

I mostly feed FrankenPrey too, except for whole fish.

No cats since I lost my mom's Siamese at 22 yo.

Hey, welcome to the forum!! I'm so glad to hear you have switched all your pets to raw and are liking the results. I too feed Frankenprey since I am too uncomfortable feeding whole animals, they remind me far too much of my pets, heck I had a hard time feeding crickets to my Leopard gecko lol.

Welcome! Smile Glad to have you here, and I hope you stay around. It's rather slow right now, but we get busy sometimes too. LOL

I think almost every does franken prey here, with a few of us offering whole prey (I offer mice on occassion, Heather does all sorts with her guys). Franken prey is easy and cooooool to say! LOL

I only feed whole prey when some nice hunters I know give me their birds. I'm all out right now, but might just go get my own lisence and start hunting myself, so that I can add in deer too! The rest of the time I do the frankenprey thing too. Beautiful avatar pic, is that one of yours? Looks like a professional pic.

Welcome!! Frankenprey is a-ok too! My thoughts are I would rather feed the whole animal so I am sure nothing is wasted. Hell, I even sell off the pelts from the animals I process so really the only thing that isn't used is intestines and stomach (unless it's an ungulate then the stomach is saved). I need to get going on setting up my "butchering station" because a friend of mine who isn't 100% raw feeding (but loves the idea of pastured, hormone/antibiotic free mutton) wants to have a sheep party the next time I get a couple culls. Hi List,
I know what you mean about not going back. And about whole prey. I'm trying to work on sourcing some whole rabbits, but sadly the main hunted birds around here (pheasants) my dog doesn't like. It's not the whole prey I'd like to feed though if even I could feed more hunted birds and rabbits, so frankenprey with cheap body bits it is for me too. But hey, my dog's doing great on it. As I'm sure your pets are.
