Here they are, veterans of raw!

Waverli (a year and a half), raw fed since 4.5 weeks. Once she got a taste she went cold turkey off formula.

Amos (almost 5ish), raw fed since 2ish years.

And my project.. the one on the right.

I've been trying for the past.. year and a half I suppose to get him to eat raw. He is to the point where he eats boneless meat, but he vomits beef and venison so I have to be careful that he doesn't get more than a tiny bite of it with chicken or something. We had a major breakthrough the other day when he ate his first 1/2" of bone from a chicken breast. He also ate a small piece of turkey rib tonight but refused a second piece. It's a start.

I don't want to jinx myself because recently I have had horrible experiences with adoption but this Saturday (if she's still there) I will be taking Amos up to meet a dog at a shelter an hour away and if all works out she will be the newest raw fed member of the family. Soo.. I may be posting another short intro for her next week sometime. Smile

Welcome to the forum! Your pets are beautiful, congrats on getting your orange boy to eat his first bones, I just had the same celebration last night, woot! It's so nice to see you have a cat that weaned right on to raw, it'll be nice to watch as she grows and ages to see if she keeps her energy level high and stays fit on the raw diet (and keep all of her teeth!) unlike cats on commercial foods who tend not to age well.

I hope you get yourself a new dog! Do you have a picture or petfinder page? What kind of dog or mix is she?

    Welcome, Heather!

Good to see the Famous Twosome here, with the not-so-famous stubborn guy. Wink

Ooh, I read a little about your maybenewdog on Goose, can't wait to meet her and see her transition!

Thanks everyone. I don't mean to brag when I say this (and I only mention it because I know it's because of raw) but whoever meets Waverli always makes it a point to tell me she's the most gorgeous cat they've ever seen (must not see any other raw fed cats). Her fur is like petting silk, she doesn't shed, her eyes are bright, no dandruff or stinky cat breath. She was spayed at 5 mos old and I've been waiting for the flabby belly to form but it hasn't. She has alittle lose skin around her upper thighs but when you actually pet her belly she is flat there. I am interested, too, to see how she fares. We are aiming for the 20 Year Cat membership but I am sure she will hit higher.. 25 or 30 would be fine with me. Smile

And here's "Bess" (she is so not keeping that name if I adopt her)

Oh my, she is CUTE! **may or may not love black critters**

Our younger cats who were only on kibble a short while get compliments as well, but we don't have many visitors Wink and I betcha your lil girl is much better off than them. We were talking about age the other day. our 14 year old gets called a 5-6 year old if we ask how old they think he is, but the previous years of kibble (IAMS Sad ) have done a number on him, I'm sure. I don't think he's got more than a few years left. The kittens, on the other hand, I think baring any accidents or genetic defects, we could have them 20+ years easily!

Keep us updated on the new baby!

I just realized I never said hello, Heather! I love your cats, especially Waverli - he looks a LOT like my Meghan. And what a cute pic of the three of them looking out the door together! My avatar is a pic of my three older cats, but I have been not-quite-so-successful at getting a shot of all five. Silly kitties just won't hold still. Rolling Eyes

Good luck with your stubborn boy. Have I mentioned Whole Life's freeze-dried treats to you before? They're expensive, but healthy since there's nothing in the package but the freeze-dried pieces of meat. I sprinkle some Chicken every now and then on Rachel's food to encourage her to eat more. It works every time, maybe it would help Trevor become a little more enthusiastic about his food?

How cool that your humane society has video too! Bess is a sweetie, hope she gets along with your crew.

(I have a thing for two tone critters, just have to get a pic up of my girl and you'll see why.)

I always though 18 was a long time for a cat to live, but on raw? 25 or 30 could be about right!

I was all set up to meet Bess this morning and called of course before making the hour drive only to be told someone would have to call me back because she didn't know if she was still available or not. I waited 3-4 hours and no one called so I called again and was told she was adopted this morning. That's like 6 dogs now that have been adopted at the last minute. Getting pretty frustrated.

AC it's not really that Trevy doesn't like raw food, he just vomits up alot of it. He loves chicken, turkey, mutton/lamb, pork and sometimes fish but he cannot tolerate beef or venison, and he doesn't eat alot of bone still.
